Dear Amazon Drive customer,

After December 31, 2023, you will no longer be able to access files through the Amazon Drive website or Amazon Drive mobile apps on iOS and Android. You can now access all your folders and files through the Amazon Photos website. Your Amazon Drive files will continue to be available through Amazon Photos after Amazon Drive access is removed.

Key information about accessing and managing your files:

  • Use Amazon Photos to access and manage your files. Your Amazon Drive files are available to you through Amazon Photos. To access your files (including non-photo and non-video content), please sign in to the Amazon Photos website.
  • Do not delete any files from your Amazon Drive account, if you plan to use Amazon Photos moving forward. While Amazon Drive and Amazon Photos are separate services, your files can be accessed and managed via either service. This includes all photo and video files whether they are uploaded to Amazon Drive or Amazon Photos. For example, if you delete a folder or file on Amazon Drive, the deleted folder or file will not be available through Amazon Drive or Amazon Photos.

Step-by-step instructions for using Amazon Photos, deleting and downloading your files, managing your paid subscription, and resources for additional help can be found on our FAQ page.

Thank you for being an Amazon customer.

Amazon Drive files are now accessible through Amazon Photos

Amazon Drive
Dear Amazon Drive Customer,

You can now access and download your Amazon Drive folders and files (including non-photo and non-video content) through the Amazon Photos website.

Your existing Amazon Drive folder structure has been retained and is now visible on the Amazon Photos website. Your Amazon Drive files will continue to be available through Amazon Photos after December 31, 2023 when Amazon Drive access is removed.

We recommend customers use the Amazon Photos website to manage Amazon Drive files moving forward. To access your files, please visit amazon.com/photos. There is no additional action needed to access your files in Amazon Photos.

If you plan to use Amazon Photos moving forward, do not delete any files from your Amazon Drive account.

After December 31, 2023, you will no longer be able to access files through the Amazon Drive website or Amazon Drive mobile apps on iOS and Android.

Updating our Google Account inactivity policy

Every day Google works hard to keep you and your private information safe and secure by preventing unauthorized access to your Google Account with our built-in security protections. And keeping you safe means having strong privacy practices across our products that minimize how long we store your personal files and any data associated with them. We want to protect your private information and prevent any unauthorized access to your account even if you're no longer using our services.

Therefore, we are updating the inactivity period for a Google Account to two years across all our products and services. This change starts rolling out today and will apply to any Google Account that's been inactive, meaning it has not been signed into or used within a two-year period. An inactive account and any content in it will be eligible for deletion from December 1, 2023.

What this means for you:

  • These changes do not impact you unless you have been inactive in your Google Account for two years or have not used your account to sign in to any Google service for over two years.
  • While the changes go into effect today, the earliest we would enforce any account deletion would be December 2023.
  • If your account is considered inactive, we will send several reminder emails to both you and your recovery emails (if any have been provided) before we take any action or delete any account content. These reminder emails will go out at least 8 months before any action is taken on your account.
  • After a Google Account is deleted, the Gmail address for the deleted account cannot be used again when creating a new Google Account.

How to keep your account active?

The simplest way to keep a Google Account active is to sign in to the account at least once every two years. If you have signed in to your Google Account recently in the past two years, your account is considered active and will not be deleted.

Other ways to keep your account active include:

  • Reading or sending an email
  • Using Google Drive
  • Watching a YouTube video
  • Sharing a photo
  • Downloading an app
  • Using Google Search
  • Using Sign in with Google to sign in to a third-party app or service

There are some exceptions to this policy. Examples include: a Google Account with YouTube channels, videos or comments; an account that has a gift card with a monetary balance; or an account that has a published application, for example, one that hosts an app on the Google Play store. Other exceptions to this policy are available here.

Google also offers tools to help manage your Google Account and provide options to back up your data, including the ability to download your data using Google Takeout, and allowing you to plan for what happens to your data if you're inactive for a specific period of time with the Inactive Account Manager.

Our priority is to make it as easy as possible for you to keep your account active, if you want to, and we'll ensure you have adequate notice before any account is impacted by this change. So before an account is deleted, Google will send email notifications to the Google Account and its recovery email (if one has been provided). You should verify that your recovery email is up to date.

All Amazon Drive files will soon be accessible on the Amazon Photos website

Amazon Drive
Dear Amazon Drive Customer,

After December 31, 2023, you will no longer be able to access files through the Amazon Drive website or Amazon Drive mobile apps on iOS and Android. To support Amazon Drive customers during this transition, all your files saved on Amazon Drive will soon be accessible on the Amazon Photos website.
If you plan to use Amazon Photos moving forward, do not delete any files from your Amazon Drive account.
In August, we are launching new features on Amazon Photos to support the transition from Amazon Drive. As an Amazon Drive customer you will be able to access and manage your Amazon Drive files (including non-photo and non-video content) through the Amazon Photos website. In addition, your existing Amazon Drive file folder structure will be retained when viewing files through the Amazon Photos website. Your Amazon Drive files will continue to be available through the Amazon Photos website after December 31, 2023 when Amazon Drive access is removed.

If you plan to use Amazon Photos moving forward, do not delete any files from your Amazon Drive account that you would like to access through Amazon Photos. While Amazon Drive and Amazon Photos are separate services, your files can be accessed and managed via either service. This includes all photo and video files uploaded to Amazon Drive or Amazon Photos. For example, if you delete a folder or file on Amazon Drive it will no longer be available through Amazon Drive or Amazon Photos.

Thank you for being an Amazon customer.

Amazon Drive is ending December 31, 2023

Amazon Drive
Dear Amazon Drive Customer,

Amazon Drive will no longer be accessible after December 31, 2023. We will continue to support Amazon Photos and ensure customers can safely back up, share, and organize photos and videos with the Amazon Photos service.

Here are the steps you need to take:
  • Use Amazon Photos to access and manage your photos and videos. Your Amazon Drive photo and video files are available to you through Amazon Photos. To access your photos and videos, please sign in to the Amazon Photos website or download the Amazon Photos app for iOS and Android.
    • Do not delete your photo and video files from your Amazon Drive account if you would like to access them through Amazon Photos. While Amazon Drive and Amazon Photos are separate services, they access the same photo and video files, so any photo or video deleted on Amazon Drive will no longer be available through Amazon Photos and will be permanently removed from Amazon after 30 days.

  • Review and download your non-photo and non-video files from the Amazon Drive website before December 31, 2023. We recommend using the Amazon Drive website to review and download your non-photo and non-video files from Amazon Drive. If you are having trouble downloading your files on the web app due to size limitations, we recommend using the Amazon Photos Desktop app to download and save your files. More instructions for using the Amazon Photos desktop app can be found on our FAQ page.
Step-by-step instructions for using Amazon Photos, deleting and downloading your files, managing your paid subscription, and resources for additional help can be found on our FAQ page.

Thank you for being an Amazon customer.
